About the Horses
The use of horses in the Saddle Seat Equitation World Cup is the result of the generosity of their owners. Horses are donated strictly for use through the duration of the competition. In order to be considered eligible for the event, a horse may come from any breed that is suited for and schooled in Saddle Seat Equitation. The competition director, in consult with the USWC Selection Committee, makes the final determination on matters concerning eligibility and suitability of horses for the competition.
Horses will typically come from the following breeds:
- American Saddlebred
- Morgan
- Arabian
- National Show Horse
Other breeds that may be used include:
- South African Boerperd
- Friesian
- Other breed crosses that meet the suitability and schooling requirements
Horses are provided with feed and bedding, stabling and exceptional care for the week of the competition. In addition, each horse donor receives a Saddle Seat World Cup Horse Donor Package that includes wonderful items provided specifically for these generous horse donors. Transportation is arranged through the USWC Logistics team. Expenses incurred in donating a horse for use in the event may be tax deductible. Consult your tax advisor for full details.
